Creating, Funding, & Implementing a Peer Mentoring Program at BLHS
In fall of 2021, I decided to start a Peer Mentoring program at BLHS with a collaborator. Peer Mentoring focuses on using trained peers to help other peers navigate through some of the toughest years of their lives. Mentors and mentees can discuss issues that don't require the need of professional help, and mentors can help navigate mentees to the right resources--including a mental health professional if needed. Peer Mentoring offers two different sessions--a one on one session or a group session. Sessions can range from a variety of activities including yoga, walks, eating a healthy snack, and just sitting. For the program, we were fortunate enough to receive a $1,000 grant. Overall, the program is built on the foundation to help students' mental health!
